Clad in metallic blue, aluminum panels that cascade in
height down from the highest level at the central lobby,
this F. B. O. terminal for Spinks Airport in Fort Worth
has a minimalist exterior to complement the architecture
of the surrounding airplanes. Developed with private funding,
the terminal was designed in concert with the City of Fort
Worth, the end tenant. The completion of the project marked
the beginning of a new phase of development for Spinks Airport,
southwest of downtown.
The design forms a linear station between two types of
transportation- the land side for automobiles and bus transit
& the air side for aircraft to taxi up to the lobby
entrance. This building provides services to those flying
in private aircraft, including business and V. I. P. passengers.
Amenities include: pilot’s lounge for pilots to relax
during wait times, V.I.P. lounge, conference rooms, and
business center for travelers. Tenant spaces are located
along the major corridor running the length of the building
with the lobby situated in between. On the air side the
lobby features a tall glass wall with projecting sunscreens
to provide large open views of the aircraft. |
